Adenomyoepithelioma of the breast: Case series and literature review

Published:February 09, 2021DOI:https://doi.org/10.1016/j.clinimag.2021.02.002

      Highlights

      • Adenomyoepithelioma (AME) of the breast is a rare tumor in which malignant transformation can occur.
      • Diagnosis of AMEs on imaging is challenging due to variable presentations, necessitating biopsy or excision for diagnosis..
      • Wide surgical excision is recommended for definitive diagnosis and treatment of AMEs.

      Abstract

Adenomyoepithelioma of the breast is a rare tumor consisting of both epithelial and myoepithelial cells. Malignant transformation of either cell line can occur. We describe the imaging features, clinical presentation, and management of seven cases of biopsy-proven adenomyoepithelioma at our institution.
